For the Treatment of Vertigo and Balance Disorders

Many people have problems with dizziness, imbalance, vertigo and falling. The Alta Bates Summit Balance Clinic and Vestibular Rehabilitation program can help.

After an evaluation is completed, a physical therapist will instruct you in exercises and movements for your specific problem. Treatments focus on improving balance, decreasing vertigo and increasing activity levels for eventual return to a normal lifestyle. Treatment for many balance and vestibular disorders can be highly effective. Duration of treatment varies from patient to patient based on the disorder or problem.

The following conditions can be treated effectively by vestibular rehabilitation:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Acute and Chroic Vertigo
  • Balance Disorders caused by other conditions

For these conditions, we offer one-on-one physical therapy evaluation and treatment, classes, and computerized dynamic posturagraphy.
